About the Position: About the Position: The incumbent will serve as a Logistics Management Specialist in the Special Requirements Branch of the Domestic Movement Operations Division, Operations directorate, Military Surface Distribution and Deployment Command.
Duties
Provide technical advice and readiness for movement of forces, sustainment cargo, and non-DOD sponsored cargo throughout CONUS.
Develop, document, and maintain policy, guidelines, strategy, objectives, and lines of effort aligned with SDDC’s strategic goals.
Maintain working knowledge of current commercial international transportation and logistics services and trends.
Develop policy recommendations to meet current and future logistics requirements.
Provide analysis of new trends in the transportation industry and changes in federal laws affecting DOD cargo movements.
Participate in multifunctional teams for strategic-level logistics, deployment/distribution, and transportation requirements.
Serve as the Domestic proponent for Essential Task development, synchronization, and implementation.
Review movement requests from shippers, conduct negotiations for transportation services, and resolve differences with shippers.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position is designated "Key” which requires the incumbent, or designated alternate, to be screened from military recall status.
- This position may require some Temporary Duty (TDY) travel – approximately 15%.
- This is an obligated position. An obligated position is one to which an employee has statutory restoration rights or entitlement based on active military service, recovery from a compensable injury, or return rights based on an overseas tour.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes: (1) Coordinating and/organizing the movement of personnel, equipment, and supplies within complex logistical frameworks; (2) Developing comprehensive logistics plans to ensure mission readiness; and (3) Providing technical assistance on logistical and/or transportation matters. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
