About the Position: The incumbent will serve as the supervisor of the Headquarters Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command's (SDDC) Logistics Division with responsibility managing and reviewing all logistical, supply, and property accountability actions in support of the command's global deployment and distribution mission.
Duties
Perform the full range of supervisory duties and responsibilities.
Responsible for the developing and implementing policy for property accountability and highly technical work in maintenance of materiel management functions, for the effective life cycle logistics support and guidance.
Provide program oversight to assure timely integration of new or changing logistics (maintenance and supply) concepts and to develop methods and techniques required for program execution.
Coordinate all necessary actions to plan and develop maintenance and supply policies.
Provide coordination to other functional areas in developing Memoranda of Agreements that identify logistic support function requirements.
Perform overall planning for the organization by analyzing logistical support mission assignments, establishing program objectives and developing current and long-range plans for accomplishment of assigned logistical support functions.
Direct subordinates in the Logistics Division, making adjustments, modifications and revisions to meet objectives.
Responsible for organizing, directing and controlling all functional areas and associated resources related to mission accomplishment.
Determine policy deficiencies in overall operations and makes necessary changes in policies, procedures and assignments.
Resolve highly complex and controversial technical and administrative problems and develops policy for guidance in future situations.
Monitor accomplishment of the various segments in terms of results shown in logistics briefings, reports, effectiveness and timeliness of accomplishments, proper utilization of skills, job satisfaction, turnover, etc.
Identify training and development needs of employees, providing or making provisions for training as required.
Evaluate the effectiveness of operations supervised in terms of mission accomplishment, quality and quantity standards, procedural, policy, and regulatory compliance.
Give advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
- This position has been designated as "Key" and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization as doing so would seriously impair the capability of the organization to function effectively.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 15% of the time.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes participating in or overseeing logistics sustainment functions; providing program oversight to assure timely integration of new or changing logistics; Analyzing and/or evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of logistical support mission assignments; performing full range leadership duties for subordinate employees; and planning, directing, coordinating, managing and/or reviewing all logistical actions involving supply, equipment, property accountability, maintenance, non-tactical vehicles, and/or logistics information systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
