About the Position: This position is located at the Call Center during a standard 8 hr day, work hours are between 0700-1800. The applicant will be expected to schedule primary care appointments.
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) in Department of Defense (DoD) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Duties
Schedule medical appointments by telephone using MHS Genesis computer system.
Verify patient demographics in MHS Genesis registration on each phone call.
Register patients who are not already registered in MHS Genesis and updates patient registration information as necessary.
Converse with patients seeking either general administrative information or information about policies and procedures.
Ensure that appointments are made available for use and makes every attempt to reschedule same day appointments that have been cancelled to optimize all resources.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. General Experience: One year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled, by providing customer service in the areas of scheduling patients via telephone; entering or retrieving patient medical records; and utilizing automated healthcare systems.
OR
Education: Two years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of by 60. Add the two percentages.
*A Qualified Typist is preferred: typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.*
Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
