About the Position: This position is located in Jacksonville Naval Hospital in Duval, Florida, with the Directorate of Surgery in the department of Orthopedics.
This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.

Duties
Responsible for scheduling and maintaining of physicians' surgical schedules for the Orthopedic Department.
Assists with the maintenance of templates for the formation of schedules for the Orthopedic Department and booking of patients.
Schedules all surgeries (major and minor) in the main operating room.
Ensures Departmental pre-operative and post-operative appointments are made in timely fashion as schedule permits, per surgeon guidelines.
Confirms that all required Purchase Orders (PO) memos are delivered to the Business Office of the Main Operating Room (MOR) no later than the close of business on the day said memo is received.
Assists division officer with outlying clinic patients and schedules.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
- This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) performing front desk duties in a high-paced, high-volume, multi-surgeon clinic, (2) exhibiting high levels of organization and experience, making sure that surgical suites are being utilized efficiently and pre- and post- op appointments are scheduled appropriately, (3) displaying patience and empathy for patients, and maintaining the highest levels of customer satisfaction, within a Military Treatment Facility. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
