About the Position: You will manage and oversee quality assurance for the Army's Casualty program in an Area of Responsibility (AOR) that touches several states, and supports Soldiers, Army Veterans, Spouses, and Retirees.
Duties
Plan, design and carry out casualty assistance support for the organization.
Provide guidance and advisory on casualty operations.
Identify and solve casualty assistance problems for quality assurance of services.
Coordinate support for interments and exhumations at cemeteries.
Monitor and update casualty information processing systems.
Manage military honors and cemetery operations
Ensure training and certification of military funeral honors trainers and units, casualty notification officers, and casualty assistance officers
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
- Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) may be required up to 10%.
- This position has been designated as key and essential for mobilization and cannot be filled by an active reservist or retiree with call back orders.
- This position requires incumbent to submit a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450 upon appointment and annually thereafter.
- This position requires a one-year supervisory probationary period unless previously completed.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Providing casualty assistance support such as casualty notification and coordination of cemetery operations; 2) providing casualty affairs related training; and 3) leading personnel in performance of casualty or mortuary affairs tasks. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GS-11).
