The primary purpose of this position is to exercise second level supervisory and managerial authorities over the U.S. Air Force Expeditionary Operations School (EOS) as the Deputy Director.

Duties

Plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of the USAF EOS. Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Represents the Expeditionary Center and Expeditionary Operations School with a variety of Joint Base and functional area organizations. Approves and enforces education and training programs, academic goals, and policies. Ensures programs meet the expeditionary education and training needs of the Air Force.

  • Appropriately handles and safeguards sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, for GS-0301, Miscellaneous Administration and Program Series. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-13, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes directs complex administrative, technical, and professional services that directly affect a major Air Force Center within the Air Mobility Command. The incumbent serves as the Deputy Director the Expeditionary Operations School which is a complex composite organization made up two more support units executing diverse mission sets and directly engaged in simultaneous operations within the agency and regional commanders within the joint community. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-13 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-14 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Comprehensive knowledge of the application of military mobility and expeditionary force operations expertise as it applies to assigned programs, operations, weapon systems, logistics support and personnel readiness in support of major military operations such as war, mobilization, deployment, exercise, system operational testing and evaluation, command and control, or similar operations. 2. In-depth knowledge of Air Force and command program goals and objectives; the sequence and timing of key operational events and milestones; methods of evaluating the effectiveness of planning actions related to actual events; and the relationship of the various command entities involved in overall program planning and execution of military operations and evaluation of the same. 3. Skill to apply a wide range of qualitative and/or quantitative methods to participate in the assessment and improvement of training, operations, and mobility programs is highly desirable; including the ability to analyze, plan, coordinate, and adjust work operations of multiple organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources. 4. Skill to communicate both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy and persuasively interact with other senior management and scientific personnel to negotiate major issues of importance. 5. In-depth knowledge of personnel management, EEO, and safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures. 6. Skill to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization through subordinate supervisors. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
