This position is in the Environmental Enforcement Section (EES), Environment and Natural Resources Division. EES comprises approximately one quarter of the Division and handles nearly all civil judicial enforcement of the federal pollution laws across the country. The incumbent provides technical services and training for operations and quality assurance of E-litigation, FOIA, Privacy Act, records and information management, contract and procurement, and the undergraduate internship program.
Duties
The incumbent serves as a Program Specialist in the Environmental Enforcement Section. Duties include but are not limited to:
Leads teams of people to carry out functions entrusted to the Assistant Section Chief for Management.
Provides analytical, legal, informational, contracting, record-keeping, and quality assurance/control on operations, technical, and administrative services to the Section.
Prepares training materials and delivers training for professional staff.
Implements electronic litigation rules and policies for the Division and other DOJ litigating divisions.
Provides guidance on policies and procedures applicable to review and analysis of information requests from Congress, the public, the U.S. Attorney community, other DOJ components, and other Federal agencies.
Leads special projects that rely on expert knowledge of litigation and trial support resources.
Requirements
- You must be a U.S. citizen or national.
- You must complete a background investigation to include pre-employment drug testing.
- Selective Service Registration is required, as applicable.
- You must complete or have completed a one-year probationary period.
- You must maintain a bank account for direct deposit of salary.
Qualifications
To qualify for GS-12: You must have one year of specialized experience at, or equivalent to, the GS-11 Federal grade level or above performing automated litigation support for e-discovery and freedom of information processes.
To qualify for GS-13: You must have one year of specialized experience at, or equivalent to, the GS-12 Federal grade level or above managing automated litigation support for e-discovery, freedom of information, and contracting processes.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skill and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Time in Grade: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements (one year at the next lower grade) by the closing date of announcement.
