You will serve as a QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST in the ORDINANCE SYSTEMS ENGINEERING & MANAGEMENT DEPT (23), SEASPARROW SYSTEMS ENGINEERING & MANAGEMENT DIV (231) of NMC ORD SYS ENG MGMT.

Duties

You will assist the Division Head in interpretation of Quality policies and procedures. You will maintain Seasparrow Launcher Depot Quality Instructions/Quality Control Manual to reflect current changes and needs. You will recommend establishment of necessary quality indicators to provide "real time results". You will generate and present reports on Depot quality Instruction/status to Depot managers as required You will provide onsite audit capability of quality practices in use, and recommend and conduct corrective training for Depot personnel. You will provide monitoring, over-sight, and operation approval of production processes for both government and contractor personnel.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

To qualify for a GS-09 position your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience interpreting agency regulations, procedures and work methods governing storage, handling, shipment, preservation, packaging, test, repair and modification of depot level repairable (DLR) items. Experience monitor quality indicator information and recommending change to work instructions/process to reduce unnecessary quality cost. Experience investigating quality discrepancies and establish/monitor corrective actions, and audit processes. Experience planning, managing, and monitoring quality tasks for all phases of depot production processes. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Master's or equivalent graduate degree
or
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.B. or J.D., if related

Includes major study -- quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or other fields related to the position.
