Duties

You will be responsible for operational support, system maintenance, calibration and sustainment of Radar and/or Telemetry systems You will install new or modified equipment, perform systems checkout, troubleshoot / repair systems according to technical manuals and design prints.. You will work in a team environment, collaborating with other senior technicians and engineers.. You will support with various test equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, power meters, and multimeters.

Requirements

Qualifications

For DT-02: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-01/04 grade level or DT-01 pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:1) Assisting with operational support, system maintenance, calibration and sustainment of Radar or Telemetry systems; 2) Assisting with the installation of modified equipment and the repairing of systems; and 3) Supporting with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, power meters, and multimeters. For DT-03: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05/08 grade level or DT-02 pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Working with operational support, system maintenance, calibration and sustainment of Radar or Telemetry systems; 2) Supporting new or modified equipment, performing systems checkout, and troubleshoot /repair systems; and 3) Utilizing test equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, power meters, and multimeters. For DT-04: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09/11 grade level or DT-03 pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:1) Leading operational support, system maintenance, calibration and sustainment of Radar or Telemetry systems; 2) Expertise with the installation of new or modified equipment, performing systems checkout, and troubleshoot /repair systems; and 3) Experienced in working with senior technicians with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, power meters, and multimeters. Education

The following education may be substituted for experience:

For DT-02: Successful completion of (a) all the requirements for a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or electronics technology, or (b) 3 years of study in an accredited (by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology, Inc. (ABET) curriculum in electronics, or (c) a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree that included major study or at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, physical science, technology, or mathematics. At least 12 of the 24 semester hours must have been in electronics courses.

For DT-03:A Master's Degree or two full years of graduate education, directly related to the work of the position; or a combination of experience and graduate level education as described above that equates to one year of experience. Your percentage of the required education plus your percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.

Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:

For 0856 series: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
OR
Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
