You will serve as a SAFETY & OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH MANAGER of CTR FOR AVIATION TECHNL TRNG.

Duties

You will serve as Training Safety Officer for high-risk Fire Fighting Training and Water Survival courses with responsibility oversight of Aircraft Firefighting Training Devices, Aviation high risk courses and off site water survival detachments. You will direct and oversee Safety Managers within district in High Risk Training Safety and Safety and Occupational Health evaluations. You will conduct studies, surveys, and job hazard analysis of work processes, training evolutions and environmental conditions to identify existing and/or potential hazards. You will review facility construction, maintenance, repair and proposed equipment procurement request to ensure the inclusion of necessary safety features. You will direct learning sites in comprehensive inspections of hazardous material storage and disposal, and administrative facilities, warehouse and maintenance shops to determine compliance with safety and fire protection standards.

  • Recall may be required in the case of emergencies and in assisting in the evacuation of command personnel.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Planning, organizing, directing, operating and evaluating a DoD Safety and Occupation Health and Training Safety Program; 2) Evaluating industrial and aviation maintenance work processes and equipment to determine factors contributing to accidents and resulting in hazardous work conditions; 3) Instructing technical and occupational safety subjects to employees responsible for hazardous activities; and 4) Performing mishap investigations to determine and evaluate factors contributing to incidents and providing recommendations for corrective actions..
