About the Position: This position is located with the U.S. Army Sustainment Command, 407th Army Field Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center, Supply and Services Division, in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

Duties

Serve as the Subsistence Supply Management Officer (SSMO), Class I subject matter expert, and Class I Accountable Property Officer for the Logistics Readiness Center (LRC), U.S. Army Sustainment Command (ASC). Oversee the stock control, requisition, receipt, storage, issue, inventory, programming, and review of local purchases (charge accounts) for Class I items. Check on work in progress and review completed work to ensure that the supervisor's instructions on work sequence, procedures, or deadlines have been met. Resolve discrepancies and conflicts pertaining to the supply program such as vendor supply deficiencies, scheduling conflicts, new requirements, and changes in requirements. Monitor established contracts in support of SSMO requirements. Monitor and develop financial account statuses and inventory records pertaining to Class I procurements and inventories. Prepare annual forecasts for operational rations, new mission requirements, and submit documentation outlining program problems with suggested improvements to Army Headquarters and Defense Logistics Agency to support the installation.

  • In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 pounds in the regular performance of duties.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
  • Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
  • This position may require evening, weekend, and/or holiday hours.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Current Civilian Employees of the U.S. Army Sustainment Command, 407th Army Field Support Brigade, Fort Leonard Wood Logistics Readiness Center, within the local commuting area. Consideration will also be given to current Department of Army Civilian employees with competitive status. In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Performing general supply related duties for an organization; 2) Conducting inventory accountability; and 3) Resolving subsistence supply issues to ensure required supplies are available to supported customers. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). -OR- Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management, or another related field. -OR- Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementProblem SolvingSupply Planning Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the second lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
