Duties

You will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and overseeing the assigned unit safety and health programs. You will plan, schedule, and conduct/access safety readiness through safety assessments/inspections of unit worksites. You will evaluate a wide variety of potential hazards related to the unit mission and identify hazardous work processes, materials, and unsafe environmental conditions. You will provide technical guidance and training to supervisors and workers responsible for hazardous activities. You will conduct studies of accident causal factors to identify predictive trend analysis to devise effective methods to mitigate safety hazards.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Performance of duties requires up to 25% TDY of time in travel status.
  • Must have a valid US driver's license.
  • This position may require the incumbent to work holidays, weekends, and on-call basis.
  • Incumbent must complete all required training and achieve the FP-12 Level 1 and Explosives Safety Level 1 professional certificates within 12 months, as outlined in the 0018 job series Master Training Plan.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Oral CommunicationPublic Safety and SecuritySafety and Occupational Health (SOH) Hazard Identification Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
