You will serve as a TRAINING INSTRUCTOR in the MARINER SKILLS TRAINING CENTER PACIFIC of the SURFACE WARFARE OFFICERS SCHOOL of SURFACE WARFARE OFFICERS SCHOOL.
Duties
You will assess progress of students in meeting learning or training objectives related to all facets of Navigation, Seamanship and Ship handling (NSS) curriculum.
You will create learning objectives (e.g., task learning relationships, cluster learning events, course content organization) to develop instructional design plans for NSS related content.
You will prepare reports regarding training effectiveness and recommendations for systematic changes to curricula and methodology.
You will advise school staff and instructors on curriculum related matters.
You will review existing training material to determine its usefulness or need to develop new material.
You will coordinate the types and capabilities of instructional methods, materials, and media used in training programs.
You will prepare a current lesson plan for each period of instruction in an assigned area of responsibility.
You will analyze performance data to determine the effectiveness of instructional systems, courses, or instructional materials.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Work is primarily sedentary, requires some physical exertion including standing for extended periods of time to lecture/train students with appropriate number of breaks, as determined by instructor, to maintain instructor and student focus.
- Work is primarily performed with in properly heated and ventilated, and well-lighted office or classroom setting.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Instructing students/personnel in navigation, seamanship and shiphandling; 2) Utilizing bridge simulators or similar shiphandling simulators as instruction techniques and competency assessment methods; and 3) Recommending improvements to navigation, seamanship and shiphandling training classes.
