You will serve as a SUPERVISORY TRAINING SPECIALIST (NAVIGATION) in the Navigation & Seamanship/Mariner Skills Training Directorate of SURFACE WARFARE OFFICERS SCHOOL.
Duties
You will in conjunction with the Type Commander (TYCOM) N7 representative, adjudicate conflicts to the I-NSST schedules to ensure an equitable distribution of training across the Fleet and to support ship deployment schedules.
You will coordinate with Afloat Training Groups (ATG) Commanding Officers to identify military personnel to operate the I-NSST training systems and when contract instructor personnel are unavailable.
You will coordinate and maintain a listing of all special operator training (SOT) qualified operators.
You will manage the operation of the I-NSST facilities, coordinate contract maintenance with PMS 339, NAWC-TSD, and SWSC I-NSST site managers to minimize training impact to the Fleet.
You will ensure all Pacific area I-NSST curriculum and practice scenarios are synchronized to support the Command Qualification Exam (CQE), PCO, PXO and MCO scenarios.
You will as the senior NSS instructor will ensure curriculum delivery and assessment of Commanding Officers (O5-O6) is being professionally conducted.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Be a professional mariner who demonstrates a mastery of all aspects of the art and sciences of navigation, seamanship, and ship-handling in order to make decisions and recommendations; 2) Possess mastery of the Convention on the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea, 1972 (COLREGs) and all applications for teaching surface warfare officers international and inland navigation rules of the road; 3) Ability to establish instructional and student performance requirements and standards at subordinate I-NSSTs ensuring alignment with Fleet Skill Objects, Human Capital Objects, and Navy Mission Essential Task Lists (NMETLs); 4) Ability to plan and assign work to subordinates based on overall priorities, and set/adjusts short and long-term goals and priorities accordingly.
