Duties

Operate various heavy equipment. Clear brush and tree stumps. Load dump trucks with sand, gravel, earth or refuse. Perform routine maintenance on assigned equipment.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position meets the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening and random testing.
  • This position requires you to possess a Commercial Driver's License Class B and retain it at your own expense.

Qualifications

Position may be filled as a Term Appointment NTE 6 years. Term appointments may be extended beyond of six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. With DoD approval, Term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years.. Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for this Term appointment will be appointed/converted into a Term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position. Ability to Do the Work of the Position without More Than Normal SupervisionAbility to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Related to Mobile Equipment Operation)Operation of Motor VehiclesWork Practices (Including Keeping Things Neat, Clean, and in Order) Physical Efforts: This position requires heavy physical effort in constantly reaching, bending, turning, and moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to handle different sets of controls to operate the equipment and attachments. Considerable strain is caused by the constant vibration of the equipment and the jerking and jolting from operating over rough surfaces. Because of the location of some of the controls and attachments, the operator is frequently required to work in awkward or strained positions. Working Conditions: This position is performed in all types of weather, often in an open driver's seat or platform, on hills, slopes, grades, rolling surfaces, and forests. The operator is exposed to injury due to the possibility of the equipment overturning. incumbent is subject to noise, vibration, dust, dirt, and fumes from the motor and exhaust.
