About the Position: Operate various types of heavy equipment, loading dump trucks, clearing brush and tree stumps.
Duties
Operate various heavy equipment.
Clear brush and tree stumps.
Load dump trucks with sand, gravel, earth or refuse.
Perform routine maintenance on assigned equipment.
Inspect equipment for signs of wear or damage.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position meets the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening and random testing.
- This position requires you to possess a Commercial Driver's License Class B and retain it at your own expense.
Qualifications
Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed 1 year by a current permanent Army employee. Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted. Position may be made permanent without further competition.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Engineering Equipment Operator without more than normal supervision.
Must possess the ability to perform common tasks including operating various heavy equipment, performing routine maintenance on equipment and inspecting equipment for signs of wear or damage.
Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Efforts: This position requires heavy physical effort in constantly reaching, bending, turning, and moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to handle different sets of controls to operate the equipment and attachments. Considerable strain is caused by the constant vibration of the equipment and the jerking and jolting from operating over rough surfaces. Because of the location of some of the controls and attachments, the operator is frequently required to work in awkward or strained positions.
Working Conditions: This position is performed in all types of weather, often in an open driver's seat or platform, on hills, slopes, grades, rolling surfaces, and forests. The operator is exposed to injury due to the possibility of the equipment overturning. incumbent is subject to noise, vibration, dust, dirt, and fumes from the motor and exhaust.
