About the Position: This position is located at Fort Novosel, Alabama, home of the United States Army Aviation Center of Excellence.
Duties
Serves as a key point of contact and principal member of the Command Group and a liaison between the Command Group staff, and directorates, regarding administrative management functions.
Provides advice and recommendations to the Chief of Staff on all matters relative to the coordination, integration, and synchronization of staff actions, events, and activities personally affecting and involving the Chief of Staff.
Exercises control over the Chief of Staff's appointments with authority for commitment of time.
Works closely with other command group offices in directing the administrative operations of the Command Group.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Term appointment NTE 3 years - Position may be filled as a Term Appointment NTE 3 years. Term appointments may be extended beyond six years. With DoD approval, Term appointments may be extended beyond eight years.
- Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a term appointment will be appointed/converted into a term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position.
- Able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) coordinating schedules, calendars and projects; 2) providing advice and recommendations of the administrative aspects of actions, events, and activities; 3) serving as a liaison between directorates/organizations for administrative management functions; 4) coordinating travel arrangements; preparing travel requests and vouchers in an automated system; 5) including preparing correspondence reports, briefings and/or forms. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in any field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
