Duties
Provides policy interpretations and functional recommendations to the Director on financial management issues.
Develops recommendations involving substantive impacts on policies, procedures, systems, and operations of the Standards and Compliance Directorate and DFAS.
Reviews, prioritizes and addresses issues impacting planning, implementation, and evaluation of DFAS wide financial management programs.
Identifies problem areas and recommends actions and taskings to improve operations, correct deficiencies, and prevent the future occurrence of problems.
Ensures that sensitive issues are handled in a manner that honor the trust and confidentiality required by the inherent nature of a situation or issue.
Advises Director and Deputy Director on critical issues resulting from conferences or committee meetings and recommends follow up actions.

- Please note, this is NOT a 100% virtual/remote position where work may be performed from any location in the US. This position is eligible for local telework near the duty station of the position, subject to management review and approval.
Qualifications
One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-12) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
Specialized Experience is defined as: Reviewing, analyzing, and interpreting complex policies and procedures in order to provide authoritative policy interpretations and functional recommendations; performing in-depth analysis and evaluation of financial policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure the overall effectiveness and efficiency of finance and accounting operations.
Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-12 or higher grade in Federal Service.
You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.
