This position is located with the General Services Branch at Gallup Indian Medical Center in Gallup, NM. This position performs a wide range of activities in the supply management program with approximately $4,980,000.00 worth of store stock and $2,099,000.00 worth of direct issue supplies. Operates government owned vehicle, forklift and utilizes other material handling equipment. This position reports to Supervisory General Supply Specialist.

Duties

This position is responsible for receiving, verification, distribution, storage, assembling for issue, inventory of supplies, equipment and the safe operation of an electric forklift and other material handling equipment. Insures shipment address is correct and unloads various sizes, weights and types of containers off freight including receipt of packages from courier services; checks for visible damages; physically verifies count before acknowledging receipt of goods and to record information on all incoming shipment. Verifies all incoming shipment of various supplies, materials and equipment against packing slip/purchase order or other source document in accordance with procedures. Establishes and maintains warehouse or storeroom locator system in accordance with instructions. Assembles for issue warehouse stock from the pick list and assures each item issued is correct insofar as the index number, unit of issue, quantity and to communicate information when stock items reach the replenishment level. Moves, rearranges or stores furniture and equipment for various departments or offices. Routinely, manually stores, stacks, palletizes, arranges and rotates warehouse stock, storeroom items and medical gases to insure first in, first out. Operate a forklift.

Physical Effort: The majority of the work requires bending, lifting, carrying, walking, standing and frequent stretching, reaching and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Must be able to lift and carry supplies, materials and equipment that weight up to 70 pounds. Must be able to safely utilized all material handling equipment. Working Conditions: The majority of work is performed inside the warehouse, hospital and clinic settings, in storage areas, receiving and shipping dock. Occasionally some work maybe performed outside in good and inclement weather. The work environment involves normal risks and discomforts of office/warehouse operations where it could be hot, cold and dusty. Is frequently exposed to the possibilities of cuts, scrapes, and bruises, falls from ladders or other material handling equipment. The employee may be required to wear protective clothing, gowns or boots when visiting certain areas. Note: Must have a valid state driver license to operate a government owned vehicle and certified forklift operator in order to perform assigned duties. Time In Grade - Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
