This position is located with the Gallup Service Unit at the Gallup Regional Supply Service Center in Gallup, NM. The position rotates throughout the warehouse in different functions and activities with specific responsibility for bulk and shelf responsibilities for a variety of supplies. The position reports to the Materials Handler Supervisor.
Duties
The incumbent of this position is primarily responsible for the receipt, security, storage and control of all controlled substances.
Prepares and keeps current a variety of inventory control records, shipping records, and storage records in accordance with established procedures.
Selects items and properly packages and assembles in the loading area.
Receives incoming shipments, unloads, unpacks, inspects, counts, and records types and quantities of items against freight bills, bills of lading, packing lists and receiving reports documents.
Prepares and keeps current a variety of inventory control records, shipping records, and storage records in accordance with established procedures.
Determines proper space and establish items and material locations for appropriate space utilization.
Determine proper sequence for loading materials and organizing shipments for maximum space allocation, safety consideration, and damage protection.
Responsible for some hazardous such as bleaches, a variety of custodial supplies, some medical supplies, flammable and some radioactive material.
Incumbent will be required to lift up to 70 pounds.
Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume.
SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated.
Time In Grade - Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
