About the Position: This position is located at the Military Police School at Fort Leonard Wood. Fort Leonard Wood is located in the beautiful South-Central Missouri Ozarks. The Fort covers more than 61,000 acres and is located in Pulaski County, Missouri. Bordering the installation to the North are the towns of Waynesville/St. Robert and Interstate 44. St. Louis is a 2 hour drive to the East along I-44 and Springfield is a little more than an hour's drive to the West of Fort Leonard Wood.

Duties

Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work. Track progress and quality of instructor performance; arrange for subordinates to conduct any required inspections. Develop training materials for both the Civilian Police Academy students as well as for training/retraining instructors through the analysis of educational or instructional problems or questions. Plan and conduct quality control reviews, validity and reliability studies and surveys of training courses over a broad specialty area or cluster of courses for compliance with established standards. Constantly oversee and review instructors while teaching to ensure initial career field certification training material is delivered to legally sufficient standards in accordance with applicable Consolidated Federal Regulations (CFRs). Manage instructional content and instructor training changes throughout the organization directed, or major change to the structure and content of the program or program segments directed.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • The employee must be willing and able to travel on military and commercial aircraft.
  • The employee may be required to work overtime to include weekends and federal holidays, out of cycle, or unscheduled training, or on an emergency basis.
  • The employee may be recalled to duty from scheduled time off.
  • This position requires the employee drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license is required and must be maintained for the position.
  • This position requires the employee to be a successful graduate of the Maneuver Support Center of Excellence courses assigned, but not limited to, Army Basic Instructor Course (ABIC), and the Systems Approach to Training (SAT).
  • Successful completion of all assigned courses includes passing all academic and physical fitness requirements, demonstrated ability to execute subject matter tactics,
  • techniques, and procedures, and passing all practical exercises IAW course student evaluation plans.
  • The ABIC and SAT courses will be completed as scheduled and within 6 months of employment.
  • This position requires the employee to be certified as a Law Enforcement Operations Training Branch Instructor in accordance with USAMPS and Law Enforcement Operations Training Branch Certification programs within the first 12 months of employment.
  • This position may handle weapons or ammunition in performing duties. Any person who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence cannot lawfully possess a firearm or ammunition (Title 18, U.S.C., Section 922(g) (91)).
  • Candidate who have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence are not qualified for this position. Candidates under consideration will be required to certify whether they have been convicted of such an offense.
  • False or fraudulent information provided by candidates is criminally punishable by fine or imprisonment (Title 18, U.S.C., section 1001).
  • This position requires the employee to be able to pass the physical fitness examination that is administered to the student population, as it exists and as it is
  • updated/amended in order to meet regulatory guidance, bona-fide occupational qualifications standards for law enforcement officers, and DA Police Academy standards.
  • This position requires the employee to undergo and pass pre-employment and periodic/annual physical examination.

  • This position is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. Position requires that the incumbent sign DA Form 5019-R
