You will serve as an ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (MECHANICAL) in the Ship Silencing Branch (Code 264), Design Division, Planning Department of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will coordinate and participate in the preparation of agenda and procedures for conduct of all types of acoustical surveys including pre and post-overhaul, structure borne and airborne surveys on all classes of submarines and surface craft You will determine survey requirements in terms of scope of testing and instrumentation required to support needed testing You will coordinate the breakdown and analysis of survey data and the development of reports containing recommended corrective action You will participate in shop and shipboard vibration testing of overhauled submarine and surface ship auxiliary machinery You will formulate procurement specifications and initiate procurement documentation for the acquisition of ship silencing electronic instrumentation.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience coordinating the preparation of agenda and procedures for acoustical surveys; Experience determining procedures that will be utilized in the conduct of acoustical surveys; Experience determining survey requirements in terms of scope of testing and instrumentation for use in instrument selection, check-out, and calibration, packing and shipping as required.
