About the Position: This position is located at Fort Johnson, Louisiana. The incumbent provides executive level administration, serving as the office manager and executive assistant to the Command Group.
Duties
Maintain calendars for one or more leadership personnel.
Coordinate with key personnel for visiting military or civilian personnel for conferences, inspections, or individual meetings.
Direct correspondence to the appropriate staff member.
Screen all incoming calls and/or correspondence to ensure required staff attention.
Establish new procedures to accommodate changes in the organization's operations and/or policies.
Administrative point of contact for subordinate secretaries and departments within the Military Treatment Facility command.
Address administrative issues, policy questions, or need for clarification on guiding regulations.
Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- Position is designated as Mission Essential. The incumbent will be required to report to work during times of contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather or other emergency situations.
- Travel Required: Up to 5% Business Travel required.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) managing multiple calendars for administrative leaders; 2) utilizing automated systems to prepare communications, such as letters, memorandums, etc.; AND 3) assisting leadership with administrative operations, such as screening calls or responding to requests for information. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-08).
