You will serve as a Quality Assurance Specialist (SHIPBUILDING) in the Quality Assurance Department of SUPSHIP GULF COAST.
Salary Range by Grade Level:
GS-09 - $59,966 to $77,955
GS-11 - $72,553 to $94,317
Duties
You will review and analyze the Contractor's inspection/quality program and development of procedures, instructions, and checklists necessary for monitoring and evaluating the Contractor's quality program.
You will participate in planning, developing, monitoring and evaluating the overall assurance-engineering program for the division.
You will execute the planned inspection program requirements, maintain appropriate control charts of Contractor's progress, and conduct analysis of feedback information on the corrective action program and the inspection program.
You will investigate areas where the Contractor's inspection system is suspected of being inadequate for the purposes of isolating the cause and make recommendations for remedial action.
You will participate in training programs for Quality Assurance Department and other concerned SUPSHIP Department s and Military (Nucleus Crew) personnel.
You will function as a Quality Assurance Representative for new construction, restricted availability, repair or regular overhaul of ships by local Contractor's and as SUPSHIP Representative on site at remote Contractor's facilities when assigned.
You will plan, develop, and implement quality assurance programs supporting the design, development and acquisition of ships.
You will coordinate or provide data which is a measure of the quality of the end product and effectiveness of the Contractor's quality efforts.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
For the GS-11 Grade Level Only:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector conducting quality assurance analysis, inspections, reviews, or audits of contractor operations, processes, performance, or materials to ensure compliance with established requirements for a shipbuilding program, project, or construction.
For the GS-09 Grade Level Only:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector assisting in the execution of quality assurance functions (e.g., inspections, reviews, audits, and contractor performance) for a shipbuilding program.

For the GS-11 Grade Level Only,
- successful completion a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree with major study in quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or another field related to the position; -OR-
- successful completion of three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree with major study in quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or another field related to the position; -OR-
- successful completion of an LL.M. degree that is related to the position being filled; -OR-
- a combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
For the GS-09 Grade Level Only,
- successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree with major study in quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or another field related to the position; -OR-
- successful completion of two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree with major study in quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or another field related to the position; -OR-
- obtained an LL.B. or J.D. that is related to the position being filled; -OR-
- a combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
