About the Position: This position is located at Lackland Air Force Base. The incumbent will coordinate facility operations, maintenance, audit, preparation, and evaluations to ensure compliance and safety within the medical facility.

Duties

Oversee facility management resources and planning for space utilization Plan complex projects to maintain patient care building within all requirements, estimating cost and scope of work. Adjust facility management priorities in response to budgetary or medical facility needs. Inspect facility and equipment to determine deficiencies and appropriate corrective action. Evaluate use patterns and identify maintenance or restoration requirements. Oversee the work of contractors to evaluate and verify compliance with statements of work or other agreements. Coordinate preventive maintenance, repair, and/or construction work while minimizing impact to healthcare delivery. Implement systematic processes that identify and eliminate safety hazards.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position may require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid stateside driver's license.
  • A pre-placement medical examination is required.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • Moderate to heavy lifting up to 50 pounds is required.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
  • This position is designated as Key. For positions located within the Continental US (CONUS), the position cannot be vacated during war or national emergency without seriously impairing the mission.
  • Incumbents must be removed from their military recall status if alternatives for filling the position during an emergency are not available.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in engineering, industrial arts, property management, or business administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Facilities ManagementFacilities Operations and MaintenanceFacilities Procurement and Contract ManagementFacilities Requirements Analysis and PlanningProject Planning, Design, and Construction Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
