About the Position: This position is located at Lackland Air Force Base. The incumbent oversees facility operations and maintenance for the medical buildings and equipment. This will include the evaluation and allocation of budgeted funds and coordinating any improvements, repairs, or construction projects.
Duties
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and/or security directives.
Recognize workplace threats to the health and/or safety of subordinates in order to take corrective action.
Evaluate work performance of subordinates to promote individual and organizational growth.
Assign work by evaluating priority, difficulty and requirements of assignments, and employee capability.
Plan assignments to comply with higher headquarters guidance.
Monitor facility to ensure compliance with building codes and/or regulations.
Ensure process compliance to support uninterrupted facility and/or service accreditation.
Prepare facility management budgets in order to manages resources within financial limitations.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position may require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
- This position may require the incumbent to work weekends and/or holidays.
- This position may include shift work (evenings, weekends, holidays).
- Must possess or obtain American Hospital Association’s Certified Healthcare Facility Manager Certification within one year of accepting the position.
- Moderate to heavy lifting up to 50 pounds is required.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- Selectee will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- A pre-placement medical examination is required.
- Up to 10% Business Travel required.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
- This position is designated as Key. For positions located within the Continental US (CONUS), the position cannot be vacated during war or national emergency without seriously impairing the mission.
- Position is designated as Mission Essential. The incumbent will be required to report to work during times of contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather or other emergency situations.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) recommending facility upgrades or projects to maintain operational standards; 2) managing the operational budget for facility maintenance; AND 3) conducting inspections to ensure compliance with established plans and/or guidelines. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
