Qualifications
NOTE: You must meet qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
To qualify for the GS-07 level, you must have one of the following:
1 year of full-time* specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 level defined as assisting senior staff in developing air protection plans, guidance and programs; gather and review data to assist in the preparation and review of environmental impact statements.
1 full year of graduate level education; or superior academic achievement (Superior Academic Achievement Definition); the education must provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position
equivalent combination of education and experience
Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: 1) Knowledge of federal environmental laws and regulations governing air related environmental protection programs; 2) Skill in using standard data gathering and analysis techniques to collect and review technical information; 3) Skill in oral communication sufficient to explain policy or procedural requirements to a variety of internal and external contacts; 4) Skill in written communication sufficient to respond to requests for general information, and assist in development of program reporting and guidance; 5) Ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
