About the Position: Serves as the Substance Abuse Program Specialist with the Headquarters Department of the Army (HQDA), Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-9, R2I and Training Division located in Arlington, Virigina. A relocation incentive may be authorized subject to provisions of the Joint Travel Regulations.

Duties

Monitor and evaluate existing U.S. Army Substance Abuse Programs to provide recommendations and conclusions based on the analysis. Conduct comprehensive research of all possible sources of information related to the drug testing program requirements for Soldiers and Civilians on recurring and systematic reporting, Develop evidence-based substance misuse program initiatives based on identified needs. Provide policy assistance in resolving problem areas for the Army Substance Abuse Program (ASAP). Provide guidance for the development and implementation of the ASAP.

Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR C. Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing technical assistance in resolving problem areas with substance abuse programs; assisting with planning evaluations involving substance misuse functions; and performing compliance reviews and/or visits to provide detailed corrective action to substance abuse program customers. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
