The primary purpose of this position is: To exercise second level supervisory and managerial authorities over Interpersonal and Self-Directed Violence (ISDV) Department of the Air Force (DAF).
Duties
Plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of the Research and Development Division, Integrated Resilience Directorate.
Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
Represents the Evaluation and Analysis Division with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
Advocates ISDV Prevention Research and Development.

- Prevention and/or response experience in evaluation and data analysis in social sciences or public health desired; advanced, specialized prevention education and experience (Cont.)
- (Cont.) (e.g., master's degree or higher in a prevention-related field, such as public health, psychology, sociology, social work, women's and/or gender studies, ethnic studies, education) also preferred. PhD preferred.
- Experience conducting, interpreting, and/or applying research highly preferred.
- Centrally Managed Position. PCS Cost is authorized.
- This is a supervisory position, a 1-year probationary period may be required.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions.
BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position
OR
Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
OR
Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-14, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of a wide range of social/behavioral science research methodologies, training theory, statistical theory, and skill development to enhance the delivery of policies, programs, and practices that are aimed at increasing resiliency for the military and families; Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures of the Public Health prevention model. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-14 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-15 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Know ledge of a wide range of social/behavioral science research methodologies, training theory, statistical theory, and skill development to enhance the delivery of policies, programs, and practices that are aimed at increasing resiliency for the Force and families.
Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures of the Public Health prevention model.
Knowledge of the DAF command structure, mission, programs, and organizational relationships plus a comprehensive knowledge of the legislation, laws, regulations, and initiatives that affect resilience related issues and execute complex studies that involve multiple locations, a variety of programs, and numerous issues.
Skill to negotiate and/or defend findings and program support concepts at all levels of DAF leadership.
Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization through subordinate supervisors. Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.
Ability to interpret and implement DAF and DoD policies and procedures and to develop regulations and operating instructions in the absence of defmed guidelines sufficient to achieve an effective resilience program. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
