The primary purpose of this position is to: Serve as a first level supervisor, providing planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over nonsupervisory employees assigned to the Airman and Family Care Division.

Duties

Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of Airman & Family Care Division, ensuring that Airman and Family Readiness, Comprehensive Airmen Fitness and Warrior and Survivor Care programs comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meet customer needs Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities Represents Airman & Family Care with a variety of installation and functional area organizations Oversees, monitors and analyzes Warfighter & Family Services resource programming and execution

  • This is a Supervisory Position. A 1 year probationary period is required if applicant selected has not previously met this requirement. This position meets the supervisory exemption criteria of the Fair Labor Standards Act (5CFR.204)
  • This is an OBLIGATED POSITION to which and employee has return rights. Upon the employees return, incumbent could be subject to reassignment
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft, train or automobile

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions to include the Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the GS-0101, Social Science Series. BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Bachelor's degree in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. OR Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. OR Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-14, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience include: Having professional and complex administrative program, development of major aspects of Key Air Force Family Care policy development. Work involves the direction of Air Force level organization that provides direction, staff advice, and assistance to subordinate installations in Airman and Family Care. Division materially affect critical program operations of multiple installations and commands within the Air Force. Impacts an agency's headquarters operations and the Air Force's entire field establishment; or facilitates the agency's accomplishment of its primary mission or programs of national significance; or impacts large segments of the Nation's population or segments of one or a few large industries; or receives frequent or continuing congressional or media attention. (NOTE: YOUR RESUME MUST SUPPORT THIS STATEMENT IF CHOSEN.) FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-14 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-15 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of policies; principles, concepts, guidance, procedures, techniques, and methodologies pertaining to Airman and Family Care. 2. Knowledge of the mission, roles, functions, organizational structures, and operation of DoD and Air Force organizations to provide Air Force-level staff guidance for Airman and Family Care activities. 3. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures. 4. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and supervise, mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization. 5. Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
