About the Position: This position is located in the Naval Medical Center Office of Dir of for Healthcare Business, San Diego, California.

Duties

Serve as a business manager to the Director and Department Heads. Responsible for the administration and business operations of the Directorate. Conduct informal financial audits and data quality assessments. Manage staffing requirements, equipment requisition and Temporary Assignment Duty funds. Foster appropriate use of information systems to enhance productivity. Review contract requests from departments and provides assistance with Statement of Work.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
• Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
• Immunization screening is required. Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes administrative support to management and conducting studies in the area of budget, equipment utilization, personnel, and resource management as it relates to organizational efficiency and support for medical research and its investigators. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: business or public administration with course work in health care administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
