Duties
Serves as the Recreation Fitness Director overseeing operations and programs associated with the Miramar Sports Complex, the BARN, Semper Fit Center, HITT Center, Intramural Sports, and Aquatics located at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar. These programs serve a population of active duty, reserve, and retired military personnel, their family members, civilians, and other authorized customers. The incumbent will plan, develop, organize, manage, and supervise diverse and comprehensive physical fitness programs, which include group exercise classes, self-directed fitness programs, incentive programs, special events, and instructional programs. Contributes to readiness and improving productivity through programs that promote fitness, sports, esprit de corps, and quality of life for authorized customers. Conducts various levels of group exercise classes. Coordinates the use of fitness facilities to accommodate the comprehensive Semper Fit Program and ensures weekly/daily inspections are conducted on fitness and sports equipment, and facilities with discrepancies documented and forwarded to the appropriate office for correction.

Qualifications
Must have five years managerial experience which demonstrates an executive level understanding of planning, managing, and administering a comprehensive year-round fitness program operation. Must have 3 years supervisory experience of front-line managers/supervisors, which includes developing skills and competencies needed to oversee group exercise classes, self-directed fitness programs, incentive programs, special events, and instructional programs.A bachelor's degree is required in one of the following areas: exercise physiology, exercise science, fitness management, health promotions, public health, health education, or a related field.Certifications in basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation, automated external defibrillator, and First Aid required to be current throughout employment.Competency in public speaking, professional writing for public awareness, computer literacy and metrics reporting and/or program evaluation.This position will be required to work occasional nights and weekends. Must have physical dexterity, and ability to conduct exercise classes, stand for long periods of time, and lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently and objects over 45lbs with assistance. A valid driver's license is required.
