This position is located under the Office of Management Financial Management Division in Martinsburg, West Virginia and Washington, District of Columbia.

Qualifications

To qualify for 7/9, candidates must also have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-5/7. Additional Conditions of Employment: GS-7/9 - You qualify if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-7/9 grade level in the Federal, State, or Local government or equivalent public or private sector experience, performing the following duties: GS-07: Utilize automated financial systems for installation and maintenance; AND Modify and apply available guidelines for specific work assignments; AND Analyze and validate accounting transactions to ensure the accuracy and completeness of accounting data; AND Create financial management reports to review financial data, records and standards. OR I have successfully completed at least one full year of graduate-level education in a discipline appropriate to the position. Superior Academic Achievement? Must meet at least one of the following education requirements in a qualifying curriculum for the position. (1) Class standing in the upper 1/3 of the graduating class, based on completed courses; or (2) Grade-Point Average of 3.0 or higher out of 4.0 per 4 years of education, or courses completed during final 2 years; or 3.5 or higher out of 4.0 average of required major courses completed in final 2 years; or (3) membership in a National Scholastic Honor Society above freshman (first year) level. OR A combination of education and experience. Education is equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience, or additional education. College transcripts must be provided. GS-09: I have at least one year of specialized experience and / or education equivalent to the GS-07 level in the Federal service in performing the following duties: Analyze and research financial data to identify the source of complicated discrepancies and determine the type of entry or adjustment necessary to bring accounts into balance; AND Apply financial management principles, concepts, standards, and accepted practices to ensure the proper presentation of the Bureau's financial management operations and to ensure the accurate processing of a wide range of accounting transactions, AND Analyze, validate, classify and appropriately record accounting transactions and financial data to accurately maintain the accounting system and ensure the accuracy and completeness of accounting transactions; AND Review and analyze accounting and systems transactions, monitor financial data trends and records by creating financial management reports and in-depth comparative analysis. OR I have a master's or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL. B. OR J.D., that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level.
