This WG-4749-05 Maintenance Worker will be part of the Facility Maintenance Division, Buildings and Utilities Group, located at Zion National Park in Springdale, Utah.

Duties
This is a Career-Seasonal position. Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. The selectee will be in non-pay status for one pay period each year, scheduled sometime between early to late January.
Major Duties
Cleans and services chemical toilets, restrooms, and other campground or visitor facilities.
This position provides routine maintenance to park facilities including: Comfort Stations, Housing Units, Visitor Centers, Campgrounds, Fee Stations, Grounds, and other facilities. Makes minor repairs as needed and refers problems to higher graded workers.
Performs minor carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical work.
Assists higher grade maintenance employees in the performance of maintenance tasks.
Safely and effectively, uses hand power tools required for the job and has the ability to maintain these tools properly.
Physical Demands: Works from ladders, scaffolds and platforms and where surfaces to be coated, or the parts of systems worked on are hard to reach that require incumbent to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts, carries and sets up parts and equipment that weigh up to 40 pounds.
Working Conditions: Work is performed inside and outside where dirt, spray, and fumes are present. Also required to work in inclement weather and/or wear protective equipment and clothing that are sometimes heavy and uncomfortable.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:
Ability To Do the Work of the Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (SCREEN OUT). Able to perform common tasks associated with maintenance work to include facility maintenance and repair of residential and/or commercial buildings including: carpentry, painting, minor plumbing, and/or electrical work.
Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment.
Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation Repair, etc.
Technical Practices (theoretical precise, artistic).
