You will serve as an Equipment Specialist in the Aircraft Launch & Recovery Equipment of NAVAIRWARCENADLKE., Fleet Technical Services Division, Carrier and Field Service Unit (CAFSU) (BL15300).

Duties

You will orally communicate with customers to keep them advised of the status and availability of equipment. You will present oral reports, briefings, and recommendations to senior leadership concerning equipment issues, problems, and training requirements. You will advise technicians on methods of resolving troubleshooting problems, repairing difficult system malfunctions, research and analysis and resolving equipment problem with long term implications. You will analyze problems associated with equipment repair work to make recommendations for corrective actions. You will prepare written technical reports on Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE) systems and equipment.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • You will be required to sign a mobility agreement to accept relocation to other geographic locations if required by the employer.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing some or all of the following duties: 1) Designing concept of operation, performance characteristics, installation procedures, failure modes and repair procedures typical of carriers or air capable ships; 2) Monitoring and coordinating tasks related to various Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE) including EMALS and AAG or similar equipment, to include equipment systems' installation, operation, inspection certification and repair; 3) Analyzing equipment and forecasting parts repair, modification, and replacement requirements; 4) Providing guidance of team members in performance of Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) sponsored programs and making critical judgments on matters of urgency.
