You will serve as a EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST in the COMPLIANCE DIVISION (05), TEAM ONE (051) of NCC.

Duties

You will conduct an annual review of the weight handling equipment support program to assess progress, identify problems, and determine which courses of action to take. You will write evaluation reports after analyzing the operation and potential problems of the weight handling equipment You will collect data from lifting and handling oversight reports to determine trends that may cause accidents. You will use computer software applications to document technical work (e.g., compile data, prepare reports and procedures, perform research).

Requirements

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Identifying program non-compliance, and recommend cost effective improvements in Weight Handling programs or other major programs areas such as production, safety, training, industrial processes, etc.; 2) Performing audits and inspections of Weight Handling programs or other major program areas such as production, safety, training, industrial processes, etc.; 3) Analyzing records of activities to review compliance with WHE directives; 4) Preparing and delivering oral and written technical reports to management; 5) Reviewing equipment and rigging gear load test and inspection documentation to ensure correct test loads, minimum load test time durations, and proper inspection periodicities; 6) Evaluating and advising personnel on the effectiveness of the activity's weight handling program with regard to rigging and operations, rigging gear, operator licensing, training, and contractor crane oversight. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Assisting others in identifying program non-compliance, and recommend cost effective improvements in Weight Handling programs or other major programs areas such as production, safety, training, industrial processes, etc.; 2) Assisting others in performing audits and inspections of Weight Handling programs or other major program areas such as production, safety, training, industrial processes, etc.; 3) Assisting others in analyzing records of activities to review compliance with WHE directives; 4) Assisting others in the preparation of written technical reports to management; 5) Inspecting and identifying deficiencies in equipment and rigging gear; 6) Maintaining or inspecting WHE in accordance with requirements/regulations. Education

For the GS-11 grade level ONLY

You may substitute the following education for the specialized experience:

A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree with a major study in a field related to the position.

OR

Three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree with a major study in a field related to the position.

OR

A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
