About the Position: This position is in the Naval Hospital, Camp Pendleton, Dir of Resource Management, Materiel Management San Diego, California. San Diego is a city on the Pacific coast of California known for its beaches, parks and warm climate. Immense Balboa Park is the site of the San Diego Zoo, as well as numerous art galleries, art studios museums and gardens. A deep harbor is the Home to a large active naval fleet, with the USS Midway an aircraft-carrier-turned-museum.
Duties
Maintain and implement movement of stock on docks, on hold, and in storage areas in line with good warehousing methods and work practices.
Receive, unload, process shipments, and prepares receiving reports for locally purchased items and shipments not accompanied by a receiving voucher.
Store items for maximum convenience of handling and ease of movement, also protect from damage, deterioration, and pilferage.
Select and assemble items for shipment and issue, determining the specific dock and hold locations most suitable for assembling each shipment as well as where trucks or other conveyances will be spotted for pick up.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 70# lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
- A valid state driver's license is required.
- Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Materials Handler ~ without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform common Materials Handler duties. I can perform the following warehousing activities under minimal supervision, collecting, receiving, storing, selecting, issuing, transporting, and shipping materials, supplies and/or equipment. Work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work on hard surfaces and in work areas that require standing, stooping, bending and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts and carries weights up to 70 lbs or may handle heavier items with materiel handling equipment or with assistance from other workers.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is done inside and outside in all kinds of weather. Work areas may be hot, cold, damp, drafty, dirty, dusty, noisy, poorly lighted, and/or other adverse working conditions. Frequently exposed to cuts, scrapes, bruises, falling material or, injury from equipment. May be exposed to dust, dirt, grease, solvents, radiation, toxins, explosive hazards and high noise areas while working in mechanized work areas.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
