You will serve as a MATERIALS HANDLER LEADER in the Ammunition Branch of MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON.

Duties

You will receive, segregate, and stow ammunition and explosives. You will make physical inventories, stow ammunition by hand, or by using pallet jacks, forklifts, or other material handling equipment necessary for the safe movement of ammunition in accordance with current directives. You will inspect incoming and outgoing commercial trucks containing all types of ammunition to verify the proper loading and bracing. You will stow ammunition in accordance with Naval Ordnance Systems Command Directives. You will inspect for safety hazards and disposes of unidentifiable, damaged, or corroded ammunition for shipment by truck, air, and sea. You will pass on instructions from the supervisor to workers, work alongside the crew and set the work pace; demonstrate at all times safe and properly approved work methods.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You must be able to obtain a valid forklift license up to and including 6,000 lbs within 60 days of employment.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States Class C Commercial driver’s license.
  • You will be required to lift items weighing up to 65 lbs.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision including receiving, segregating, and stowing ammunition and explosives.
