As a Supervisory Field Examiner (Assistant Coach) you will an integral part of the Fiduciary Hub supervisory team and assists in supervising one of the teams within the Fiduciary Hub. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that all field examinations and accountings are processed as expeditiously as possible to assess the competence, adjustment, and personal welfare of beneficiaries and protect a beneficiary's assets from loss or diversion.

Duties

Under the administrative supervision of the Fiduciary Hub Manager and the Coach, the supervisor plans, directs and assigns work priorities for his/her subordinates, generally a work team consisting of 6-20 administrative employees ranging from GS-6 to GS-11. The incumbent must maintain the highest technical and professional authority in the area of difficult and complex fiduciary issues to make final decisions or commit the Federal Government to unusual liability. The incumbent along with the Coach is responsible within the framework of broad policies established by VA Central Office for implementing the law, policies, and procedures by means of supplemental directives, interpretations, and procedural instructions; resolving and making final determinations on questions of interpretation of regulations, precedent decisions, instructions, and other controlling guidelines; providing for uniform understanding through training conferences, informal discussions, and instructional memoranda.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience: To qualify for the Supervisory Field Examiner (Assistant Coach), GS-1801-12 position, you must have at least one 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-11) in the Federal service. Specialized Experience is defined as: Document knowledge of a complex field of laws, regulations and Federal legislation pertaining to the full range of Veterans benefits and a comprehensive and thorough knowledge of state, federal and local benefit programs in order to be able to explain them, both orally and in writing, to individuals of all educational backgrounds. Time-in-grade: Applicants who are/were federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. For a GS-12 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-11 level. To support your claim of time in grade, you must submit your most recent appointment, promotion, or within grade increase SF-50 (not an award or general adjustment SF-50). Note: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
