About the Position: Serves as the US Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) Tasking Specialist. This position is located in Fort Liberty, NC.

Duties

Coordinates and dialogues with subordinate organization, USASOC peer organizations, and higher organizations in the conduct of task management. Conducts detailed analysis of requirement, clarifying information and requirement details with requestor. Monitors and evaluates support requirements; screens support requests for training distractions that will have a potential impact on the Special Operation Forces (SOF) mission in any assigned geographic area. Advises supervisor of potential tasking problems and pursues resolution at the action officer level by proposing alternative courses of action to recommend ways to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of work operations. Determines augmentation support for exercises and training event with expert knowledge of Army Special Operations Forces (ARSOF) Table of Distribution and Allowances (TDA). Applies advanced analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to complex actions, projects and activities in order to advise on, plan, coordinate, integrate and execute the synthesis of complex, multifaceted actions, projects. Determines augmentation for exercises and training with regard to supportability for personnel and equipment, while managing organization readiness data. Ensures support requests meet the prescribed requirements and procedures set forth in command regulations. Applies advanced analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to complex actions, projects and activities in order to advise on, plan, coordinate, integrate and execute the synthesis of complex, multifaceted actions, projects. Serves as the principal point-of-contact and key staff management action officer for the execution of program and recurring USASOC requirements for personnel, equipment support, and substantive actions, projects, and activities. Conducts analysis of personnel and equipment augmentation requirements in support of military operations, Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) Exercises and USASOC unit and institutional training programs.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position is covered by the civilian drug abuse testing program, and employee is subject to random drug testing.
  • Temporary duty travel (TDY) may be required approximately 10% of the time.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.

Understanding the tasking function, utilizing advanced knowledge and skill in the application of analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to complex actions as required at the Army Major Command (MACOM) level; AND 4) Oral communication to interface with higher echelon to negotiate and influence in the decision making process and the ability to brief General Officers on support plans and analysis. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-11.
