You will serve as a Lead Naval Architecture Technician in the Damage Control Branch (Code 258), Structural Engineering and Planning Division (Code 250), Office of the Chief Engineer (Code 240), Engineering and Planning Department (Code 200) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will assist with controversial or unprecedented situations and review completed work for technical soundness, accuracy, compliance with policy/regulation and program effectiveness.
You will perform surveys and other data collection operations to establish engineering characteristics and parameters relevant to ship stability..
You will liaison with other shipyard codes in order to develop and sustain interface boundaries in technical and procedural matters involving shipyard operations for timely and economical completion.
Requirements

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience establishing schedules, intermediate milestones and estimates of work to meet design schedules.
Experience demonstrating judgment and mastery of concepts, principles, and practices of naval architectural damage control for full range of damage control functions.
Experience utilizing knowledge in Mechanical and Electrical engineering fields in order to develop and sustain interface boundaries in all technical and procedural matters related to Shipyard operation.
Experience evaluating and applying the latest techniques in solving problems not readily treatable by traditional or accepted methods.
