You will serve as a TRAINING SPECIALIST in the EMPLOYEE DEVELOPMENTAL & QUALITY DIVISION, PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will ensure instructors maintain subject matter expert level proficiency in assigned technical areas of expertise. You will make recommendations to training development plans based on data gather from analytical analyses. You will coordinate with Shipyard personnel to deliver training programs to instructors and employees. You will adhere to all rules and regulations concerning training development within the Shipyard.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience analyzing policies and objectives associated with mentoring, instructor development, and training under private or public educational agencies. Experience implementing adult learning concepts by developing comprehensive training programs that supports mission essential functions of the Shipyard. Experience preparing complex reports and business metrics utilizing various computer programs (e.g., PowerPoint, Excel, Business Objects, QPS, ATMS, and AIM).
