You will serve as a SUPERVISORY TRAINING INSTRUCTOR in the NUCLEAR PROGRAMS TRAINING BRANCH, PRODUCTION RESOURCE/FACILITIES AND MAINTENANCE TRAINING DIVISION, PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

Coordinate facilities, instructors, supplies, or other resources needed for scheduled training. Advise, direct, and guide others in the area of modern education methods, schema, and learning practices. Implement solutions by using negotiation, conflict resolution, or leadership skills to obtain results that support organizational or mission requirements. Write statements of work to support the procurement of training-related products. Talk with employees to address personnel issues (e.g., employee leave, disciplinary actions, promotions, transfers, separations, and grievances).

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience overseeing a training program (e.g. schedule, curriculum, equipment needs, and instructors). Experience facilitating apprentice, work skill, and nuclear related training for students with diverse trade and functional backgrounds. Experience developing, evaluating, and revising program objectives and instructional plans. Experience briefing/debriefing personnel on changes to production or training techniques. Experience setting performance expected of subordinates while maintaining time, accident, and injury reports.
