You will serve as a Fuel Distribution System Operator in the Fuels Department of NAVSUP FLC SD GF.

Duties

You will operate and communicate orders to other workers to clear lines, open or close valves in proper sequence to provide an open pipeline from a point of origin for a shipment of fuel to a destination. You will monitor and control valve, pump, and tanks while using Automated Fuel Handling Equipment (AFHE) and Bay systems and initiate, control, and terminate fuel transfers. You will operate AFHE which controls all movement of fuel. You will determine if facilities are functioning properly. You will direct loading and unloading of oil tankers, tanker trucks, vessels pipelines, and transfer of fuel from one storage tank to another. You will calculate the rate of flow of fuel to determine if pumps are developing maximum output and regulate tank feed controls to obtain adequate suction. You will perform equipment preventive maintenance and minor corrective and breakdown maintenance as required. You will monitor receiving tanks and sewage pumps for a safe and efficient operation.

Requirements

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Forklift license
  • You will be required to complete Automated Fuels Handling Systems and other required safety training in order to meet annual requirements
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
