Job opening: FUEL DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM WORKER

You will serve as a Fuel Distribution System Worker in the Fuels Department of NAVSUP FLC SD GF.
Duties
You will operate various pumps, valves, vehicles, small craft, and other ancillary equipment to load, unload, and transfer petroleum and lubricating oils through pipelines and hoses.
You will transfer fuel between ships, barges, storage tanks, fueling units, and/or tank trucks.
You will read meters, take samples, and temperature readings.
You will perform general preventative and breakdown maintenance, such as painting, housekeeping of rounds, cleaning valve vaults, sumps, and other such duties as assigned.
You will regularly operate gasoline or diesel powered vehicles with vehicle weight of 30,000 pounds and 2,000 gallon fuel capacity, to transport fuel throughout the facility and to authorized customers.
Requirements

- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current forklift certification.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Government Weight Handling certification.
- You will be required to possess a current California Commercial Class " A" or "B" Driver's License with hazmat endorsement and air brakes and must provide a copy of your license with your application.

An example of the screen out element is: I have the ability to and have performed a full range of Fuel Distribution System Worker tasks including: operating fuel distribution systems (FDS) by use of remote switches and valves, portable and stationary pumps, and accessory equipment to load, off-load, and transfer fuel and petroleum products between ships, barges, trucks, delivery equipment, and storage tanks; monitoring levels and pressures during transfer; taking prescribed corrective actions as directed by senior personnel; computing fuel quantity based on temperature formulas; taking samples for testing; complying with laws and regulations for handling fuels; assisting in performing preventive maintenance of FDS. I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection.
