About the Position: Fort Leonard Wood is centrally located in MO and about a two hour drive southwest of St. Louis. Fort Leonard Wood is the home of the Engineer School, Chemical School and Military Police School. The surrounding area is rural. This is a low to medium cost area for housing and traffic density is low. This position will be filled on a permanent basis.

Duties

Serves as a Training Instructor (Power Plant Operations) for Operator Training Department. Performs technical work on a wide range of projects covering the development, preparation, evaluation, and review of training programs in the generation, transmission, distribution, and utilization of electrical power. Subject matter experience in low or medium voltage generation, mechanical maintenance experience for the prime mover (diesel, gasoline or hydroelectric).

Specialized experience is defined as: One year of specialized experience that demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction, which includes: Develops and delivers instruction on powerplant technology covering a wide range of concepts, and practices in subject areas as powerplant operations, maintenance and siting of large/medium-Voltage generating units. Closely monitor assistant instructor performance in the classroom, and evaluates student performance through the use of graded examinations and practical exercises. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position.ORCombination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Curriculum DevelopmentEducation / Training Program AdministrationLearning and Program Evaluation Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
