Duties
Provides professional advice and assistance through the G3 Deputy Chief of Staff to the Corps/Senior Commander and staff on all matters relating to Training, Operations and Plans.
Reviews regulations, directives and orders and determines the impact on plans, training, operations, programs, and functions.
Serves as the MACOM Training Ammunition Management Information System - Revised (TAMIS-R) manager to ensure attached units submit annual ammunition requirements.
Manages the Joint Exercise Program for all attached units by demonstrating extensive knowledge of the Joint Training Information Management System (JTIMS).
Integrates training, operations and plans functions with force integration and modernization activities to produce long range planning and resource forecasting for home station training programs.
Plans, directs, manages and coordinates G3 Training, Operations and Plans activities.
Exercises full authority for the day-to-day oversight of G3 Training, Operations and Plans programs related to ReARMM and unit readiness, for all FORSCOM units attached to the Corps for TRA both on and off the installation.
Proficient in Joint Capabilities Requirements (JCRNS) and Joint force sourcing requirements.
Directs the daily operations of the G3 Training, Operations and Plans Directorates through subordinate supervisors and senior employees engaged in accomplishing G3 training, plans, mobilization, operations, and readiness functions.
Supervises the Contract Officer Representative (COR) for scope, guidance, budget and directives for the Joint Fires Observer and Games for Training Contract.
Develop the performance plans and rates the performance of subordinate supervisors (both military and civilian), and other subordinate employees as required.
Assign work to subordinates based on priorities, difficulty of assignments, and the capabilities of employees.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top-Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter.
- Incumbent may be required to work overtime on an emergency basis.
- In accordance with AR 690-11, this position has been designated as “Key” and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization as doing so would seriously impair the capability of the organization to function effectively.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) developing short and long range training plans to meet current and future mission requirements; (2) experience providing advice and assistance on all matters relating to Training, Operations and Plans to a major command; (3) Providing guidance to executive staff on training requirements; and/or (4) represented major command at conferences, seminars and meetings relating to ReARMM, and/or the integration of plans operations, and training for unit readiness. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).
