You will serve as a SUPERVISORY TECHNICIAN in the UNDERSEA & COMBAT SYSTEMS DEPOT DIVISION within the UNDERSEA WEAPONS DEPT of NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV KEYPORT WA. This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The NT-5 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-13 and GS-14.

Duties

You will supervise and manage government mechanics and machinists in all mechanical and machinist disciplines and other branch personnel, and manage and evaluate contractor performance. You will apply comprehensive knowledge of electro-mechanical and mechanical troubleshooting, repair, and refurbishment operations using various mechanical processes. You will serve as the competency manager to develop, implement, and manage professional growth programs that improve mechanic skills for those assigned to the branch. You will develop and manage workforce shaping strategies considering existing and future work profiles, customers, and requirements ensuring sufficient technical support for internally and externally assigned work. You will perform Resource Manager functions including the development, approval, and revision of procedures, standard operating processes, and facility improvement planning.

  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower pay, NT-04 (GS-11/12 equivalent) or grade level in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector applying engineering technology concepts and practices to evaluate the testing, troubleshooting, repair, refurbishment, or upgrading of electronic or mechanical components related to undersea systems.
