You will serve as an ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the Facilities Management Division (FMD) within the S-4 Public Works Department (PWD) of MARINE CORPS AIR STATION MIRAMAR.

Duties

You will evaluate and approve work requests for accomplishment or work involving repairs, alterations, improvements, new construction and occasional manufacturing. You will conduct preliminary condition inspections of structures and facilities as part of the Preventive Maintenance Program. You will review controlled inspection reports prepared by inspectors and evaluates recommendations for action to maintain and/or repair the facilities of the organization. You will participate with the supervisor in special facility studies to improve operating methods or techniques. You will review all costs reports and challenges apparent to discrepancies; you will participate in monthly reviews of expenditures to determine action required to keep within budget. You will act as facilities emergency troubleshooter for Command; you will investigate unusual or unexpected problems and recommends both quick fixes and long range permanent solutions. You will compile facility maintenance data for reports; you will make status reports to departments and tenants. You will review detailed engineering specifications for procurement package documents that will provide facilities maintenance, repair, and construction. You will develop project packages requiring Scopes of Work and Cost Estimates to be generated.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Demonstrates application of engineering principles and techniques in evaluating inspection reports, writing facility maintenance and repair project scopes of work; developing estimates on facility maintenance and repair; recommending acceptance or rejection of completed work; monitoring and evaluating requests for work; and making recommendations on maintenance and repair of physical structures and facilities.
