The Program Support Assistant for Nursing Service at the Carl Vinson VAMC is responsible for providing administrative and timekeeping support for the staff of the service.
Duties
Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:
Maintains databases in order to organize and retrieve reports, prepare correspondence and numerical data for use in preparing status reports, briefings, and presentations.
Identifies and recommends ways of eliminating, combining, simplifying, or improving procedures and processes.
Independently performs a variety of administrative tasks with maintaining quality assurance monitors for assigned clinical sections under the Office of Deputy Chief of Staff (Med/Surg & Diagnostics).
Researches and provides background on subject matter of meetings without direction.
Attends meetings and conferences as assigned, prepares meeting minutes, and follows upon action items with appropriate staff members independently.
Provides support to the Residency Program Coordinator and serves as the back-up to the Residency Program Coordinator.
Instructs affiliates on information required for the credentialing letter based on regulations and policy.
Processes incoming and outgoing materials such as correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other forms of written communication.
Resolves conflicting or inconsistent information found on initial searches.
Integrates several types of software. this includes using database or spreadsheet software to enter, revise, sort, calculate, and retrieve data for reports; uses graphics software to provide graphic symbols, electronically using personal computer that is networked or linked to other computers.
Performs timekeeping duties for the staff of the service
Performs other necessary duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM EST

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-4 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Capable of updating databases accurately in order to organize and retrieve reports.
Prepare correspondence (e.g., status reports, briefings, & presentations) for publication.
Follow regulation and procedures accordingly to be in compliance.
Measure progress and effectiveness of operations against objectives.
Operate a computer and/or automated systems (e.g., various Microsoft Office Programs).

Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 4 years above the high school level.
OR,
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond the high school level.

Physical Requirements: Work is sedentary. Work requires sitting, standing, some walking, bending, and carrying light items such as books and files.
